Anyone in Russia attempting to join the rally in favour of Alexei Navalny will be greeted with a denial of access to the Facebook page. Roskomnadzor, Russian’s internet regulator announced that it was blocked on the grounds of preventing a unsanctioned mass event, through the social media website.

Navalny is facing 10 years in prison if he is found guilty of embezzlement, the court case is scheduled to take place on the 15th January, at the same time as the rally. Navalny, who is openly opposed to President Vladimir Putin, is shocked at Facebook’s decision of censorship.
