World Baseball Classics are Now Available Online for Free

With Cuba facing off against the Netherlands this March 7th in the Republic of China, better known as Taiwan, the biggest Baseball competition in the world will begin. World Baseball Classics have been exploding in popularity and can now be watched online for free, provided that you are in the correct location.

Thankfully, you don’t need to be physically present in that location. With premium VPN providers such as Le VPN, it is possible to simply pick a server located in the US, Japan, or Taiwan and just watch it on public television or FOX for those who prefer American commentators.

The Top Championship in the World of Baseball

For the last World Baseball Classics in 2017, more the 1.4M people tuned in to watch the WBC just on the Major League Baseball (MLB) website. That doesn’t account for millions who watched in other countries, especially Japan, where baseball is widely popular.

Although baseball can’t contend with football or basketball in global popularity, it is no longer just an American sport. Japan, Taiwan, Australia, China, and even Czechia are bringing in amazing teams from ever-growing leagues.

Where to Watch from and How?

Because this is an international championship, the choice of where to watch from will mostly be connected with language. For those in the US, the choice will boil down to Fox Sports. Spanish speakers might prefer to watch it on Deportes, with commentary from Gabriel Medina and Alfonso Lanzagorta.

All other countries will have local options, with Japan and Taiwan showing all games on public television for free. All these stations also have a streaming option for local viewers, so if you switch your VPN location to Tokyo or Taipei, you will be able to watch without any issues.

Take note that all of these games are happening live in Japan and Taiwan. Thus, the play times might be late at night or early in the morning for those watching in Europe, Africa, or the Americas.

Four Pools and 20 Teams

In total, there will be twenty national selections competing in the tournament. For the first round, there will be four pools with five teams each. Two of the best teams from each pool will go to the quarterfinals and the knock-out phase. From there, the winner takes it all.

The games will begin on March 8th for East Asia, but in the US, that will be March 7th at 11 PM.

To watch the games for free, pick a suitable location from the VPN Servers List and enjoy the game on virtually any device through the browser.

Pool A

There following five teams are in the first pool:

  1. Chinese Taipei (Taiwan)
  2. The Netherlands
  3. Cuba
  4. Italy
  5. Panama

The first pool will start with the match between Cuba and the Netherlands. While Cuba is the favorite in the match, it is very hard to tell this early. It is promised to be an interesting match.

For the second match, technically, Panama will be hosting Taiwan, even though the match itself will be played in Taiwan. Officially the Republic of China, Taiwan, may be a relatively small island, but just like Cuba, they are a baseball powerhouse.

Pool B

The second pool has the two-time winner of the World Baseball Classic. The full roster is as follows:

  1. Japan
  2. South Korea
  3. Australia
  4. China
  5. Czechia

The top contenders here might be Japan and Korea, but none of the teams are to be disregarded. Czechia as the relative newcomer to the baseball world stage, might be the least of a threat, but they can be a surprise.

Out of the early games for Pool B, China vs. Japan and Australia vs. Korea are bound the be the most interesting. All teams are quarterfinals hopefuls, and Japan is certain to strive for the gold as they are historically the best team in the tournament.

Pool C

The third pool is four American countries, with the addition of the UK. The full list contains the following:

  1. United States of America
  2. United States of Mexico
  3. Colombia
  4. Canada
  5. United Kingdom

Team USA is probably the favorite in this pool, but Mexico and Canada are not far behind. Many players from Canada and Mexico play in the MLB and will bring that experience to their national teams.

Colombia and the UK will have an uphill battle. Still, they will be coming to East Asia full of hope, so it is possible to make a turn and see one of these teams in the playoffs. These games will start on March 11th in Phoenix, Arizona, in the USA.

Pool D

Last but not least, the fourth pool has the top favorite of the tournament. The full list is as follows:

  1. Puerto Rico
  2. Venezuela
  3. Dominican Republic
  4. Israel
  5. Nicaragua

By all accounts, under the management of Hector Borg, the Dominican Republic national team is the favorite. They have been having a stellar rise and are hoping to grab the gold. They’ve had a good run during the 2021 Tokyo Olympics and would like to reach even further now.

The other four teams are not to be trifled with either. The four teams from the Americas are well known, but the Israel national team could be a dark horse. Matches will start on Match 11th in Miami.
